Until now there was sadness and no magic for Evie McKinnon, but she was absolutely positive about three things:

Firstly, Agnes McKay was a witch. There were curious objects hanging from the walls of her house and she appeared from nowhere outside of the stone circle at Waternish.

Secondly, the Ramsey sisters were too nosey and familiar for their own good.

Thirdly, the island had a peculiar magic and its secrets, good or bad, lay hidden in the ruins and the shadows of the forest.
