Philippa Hawley

Headshot, Philippa Hawley

Philippa Hawley is a writer living in NE Essex with her husband and several tortoises. They have two grown-up children, and a busy, toddler grandchild who visits often. Having worked as a family doctor in the NHS for over 30 years Philippa has been privileged to observe human behaviour and relationships in close proximity, and this comes across in her writing which often includes medical topics presented in a subtle and accessible way.

Philippa is an active member of local writing groups with whom she shares short stories, flash fiction and sometimes poetry. Philippa enjoys travel writing when travel is possible, and she has also self-published three contemporary fiction novels since 2013, making ‘To Be Frank’ her fourth novel.

When not writing, Philippa likes watching films and reading. She also spends time in her garden maintaining a wildlife area which backs onto the local woods, attracting wonderful birds, butterflies and dragonflies.
