Yvette and Skye Burchell, a mother and daughter duo, are the authors of the humorous murder mystery, classic whodunnit novella The Severed Ponytail at Centre Stage. Both Yvette and Skye have always had a passion for all things theatre and love reading murder mysteries and whodunnits, such as those written by Agatha Christie, namely The Murder on the Orient Express. Even Agatha Christie’s plays, most notably The Mousetrap, fuelled their passion for the mystery and crime genre while also inspiring their own book. The duo also found inspiration through comedic plays such as The Play That Goes Wrong and Clue. The Severed Ponytail at Centre Stage is Yvette and Skye’s debut book.
Skye Burchell was born in Blackheath, London, in 2004. She has a degree in BSc (Hons) Criminology and Criminal Psychology from the University of Greenwich. She has also worked in the theatre industry while studying. Skye has found the experience of writing the novella incredibly exhilarating, even more so as she really enjoyed working alongside her mother.
Yvette was born in Greenwich, London, in 1974. She has previously worked as a Theatre Manager. She lives with her husband and three children, Skye, Annie and Jude. It has always been Yvette’s ambition to write a book and have it published, and so this was a dream come true for her. Better still was the fact that she achieved this aspiration with her eldest daughter, Skye.
Yvette, Skye and family, along with their two little dogs Buddy and Monty, enjoy exploring the beautiful Scottish Highlands each year to relax and to take in the breathtaking scenery.
The duo plan on writing further books together, with the next one already in the making.
