Michael Scholes was born in Bolton and now resides in Yorkshire. His debut children’s book, ‘Hector’s Astonishing Secret’ is just one of the many stories he has written. Bridging a gap between picture books and full novels, his stories are in prose or rhyme but always of a manageable length for a new ‘free reader.’
Michael spends a large amount of time travelling the world with his wife, having been completely round it in both directions! A lot of his time is spent in Australia visiting family, and long hot summers are usually at his house in the mountains of Andalucia in Spain. The countries he has visited often form the location of his stories, since he’s a great believer in ‘it’s always easier to write about what you know’. The Pelican Diaries is his second published work, set on Kangaroo Island, South Australia.
