Maureen was born in Derbyshire and loved reading as a child. She qualified as a teacher and taught infants. Reading stories to them was a special part of her day. She enjoyed seeing the expressions on the children’s faces as they laughed and discussed the stories that were helping them to learn.
Maureen and her family moved to Cornwall, where they ran a successful guesthouse on the coast. Although they still live in the guesthouse, they no longer take in guests.
Maureen started painting some years ago and has raised money for charities including the Samaritans, Explorer’s Against Extinction, Surf clubs and the Children’s Hospice SW. Over £5,000 has been raised to date. She has also won awards for her artwork.
‘Zebedee’s Bedtime’ was Maureen’s first children’s rhyming picture book. ‘Count on the Farm,’ her second book, will encourage children to learn to count, while having fun saying the sounds that the animals make.
