Born in Manchester, Geoffrey Withington grew up in Cheshire. After service in the Far East with the Royal Navy and a brief spell deep sea fishing on trawlers out of Hull, he studied comparative English literature and Russian literature. He wrote four books in the 1980s but discarded all of them.

Geoffrey lived and worked in Belgium where he learnt to speak Dutch and is now living quietly in semi-retirement in Kent.

The Seven Rivers of Summer is Geoffrey’s first published book.
