Fiona Allen grew up on a farm in Surrey. After leaving further education, she travelled to South Africa and lived and worked in Cape Town for five years. Returning to the UK, Fiona studied to become a Montessori teacher and taught in London before meeting her husband who was in the Armed Forces. She then travelled between Germany and the UK in various postings, during which time they had their two children. They have now settled in Somerset. Fiona works in a local nursery and is passionate about the importance, not only of an education at an early age, but also the introduction of books to young children. Both her children are avid readers and thoroughly enjoy a walk around the local bookshop and a browse in the library. The inspiration behind Fiona’s writing has stemmed from her childhood, which inspired her imagination and creativity.
